i have an audigy platinum first generation and simply put i would not buy another one.. hope that helps you.

i used to have a sb live platinum. i sold it for 50 quid and got myself a decent soundcard
m-audio delta 1010
it rocks ....
if you can't afford one why not try one of the delta lt series..
