    Default Plugins roll call

    things I use, have no idea if they're good or not, just am comfy with them

    Reverbs:
    nebula

    compressors:
    sonalkis stereo comp (compression)
    native tc works (sidechaining)

    EQ:
    waves renaissance EQ

    FX
    PSP nitro
    ohmboys filter
    waves enigma

    delays:
    cubase stereo delay
    stereoizer (widening)

    Thats it.

    Any suggestions, comments, must have plugins I'm missing?

    depends on the spends - i use sonalksis comp - its very nice - there TDK filter is a nice bit of kit too - i use oxford eq (like that alot) and effex the d16 devestor. those are the only treats i could afford - the rest i use come with ableton or freeware
    mind found some good freeware - audio damage rough rider is a nice comp (i like it for kicks and snares) a nice delay imo is TAL audio dub delay

    no worries -would be lost with out the Tal dub IMO a good freeware delay - still looking for that perfect delay mind - i love the digi delay that comes with reason but not found any vst that works in the same way

    I'm being slightly misleading here....I never use it for production but I quite often use it in combination with the API EQ's to apply basic mastering for my tracks. Nothing as fancy as that provided by a real mastering house but I find with regular referencing along with regualr switching between speakers, headphones etc, you can often achieve a pleasing result.

    I also sometimes apply gentle limiting to mixes to make them louder and smooth out the dynamics. Either way, the L2 is the best software limiter out there (in my opinion).

    I try to keep the amount of plugins I use to a select few so I can get the best out of them. Ive have used this combination for a while and I can get the results im after quickly.

    my faves at the moment

    compressor - UAD neve 33609, all liquid mix compressor emulations & UAD neve 88rs channel strip

    eq - mcdsp retro eg and liquid mix manley

    reverb - altiverb & UAD plate 140

    delay - soundtoys echoboy

    distortion and harmonics - IK multimedia amplitube fender or UAD la2a compressor (hard driven)
