    Default windows xp

    gna buy windows xp so a can get vista off my laptop

    should i just go for the home edition service pack 3?

    just chack that your computer is backwards compatable - i wanted to go back to xp when i baught a new pc but the chip set was new and they didn't have the xp drivers for it.

    Yep, should be fine.

    I've seen various discussions about whether Home or Pro is better for music, but it seems much of a muchness.

    But yeah, deffo check drivers are available for everything - particularly your motherboard.

    There are some impressive modded versions of XP floating about

    Props to whoever figured out how to mod XP to make it recognise 4 gig ram, and generally speed it up beyond the makers intentions.

    I'd have a search, by all means buy and contribute towards Mr Gate's AIDS research programmes, but you might as well get the best product out there. Which isn't necessarily mr gates' version...

    e-mail the manufacturer they will be able to tell you if they have the drivers.

    and/or check their website for drivers. My lappy had no supported ones on their site but googled lie crazy and managed to get the ones i need essentialy to do what i need.

    did have problems with it to start with though, got to install it on a freshly formatted drive.
