    Default MK3 1210's pitch problem...

I've just bought some MK3 1210's for £300, and I set them up yesterday & discovered a problem. The pitch controller on one of them is shot to fu*k (I think) and I found myself fighting to hold a mix. My mate says its the motor, but I think its the pitch controller. Should I buy a new pitch control, or go and get the decks serviced, or try and adjust the motor myself? Looked into a service, and it is £30 per deck. I dont mind paying that as I got the decks so cheap (which is probably why ones not working too well! ) What would you do?

yeah mate getting them serviced sounds good, you know youve got nice new pitch control then and nothing to worry about for a long time

it could be the motor but theyl service that anyway wont they?

i cant see a new one costing too much if it was the case

Sounds like the pitch to me. I often see 1210's mk2' & Mk3's come in for repair at work & most of the time its pitch problems, very rarely its anything else. Its best to pay for them to be serviced unless you know what you are doing as you could cause more probs by poking about inside ;)

ha ha! Cheers Russ! Ok then, they are off to be serviced for sure. Been quoted £35 per deck. Is that good or gash? As I only paid £300 for the pair im more than happy to spend £70 getting them serviced.

£35 per deck is quite good. Most Engineers/repair agents charge about £30 per hour for labour alone & then you have got cost of parts on top

I was lookin at purchasing the 1200 MK5, anyone else road tested these. I think the only change is a button for 16% pitch, could be usefull I spose.

MKII's are the best I reckon, you dont really need much more and it saves me from pressing the reset button by accident and not being able to pitch a tune...
