Chicago, IL USA

I have a slightly diff opinion. People like Rich Hawtin and T Raumschmiere will always get a good response. I think the scene is healthy when the locals (palomo, vega, knee, apocolypse, etc..) get as good a response, and the crowd is there for the music rather than just the special occassion that can't be missed.

I'm new here, so maybe I'm jaded, but also, it's all clubland here. Besides smartbar and emptybottle its all about $10 drinks, bad lighting, etc. Not much of an underground scene. Also, to me, when a scene is healthy it lives for itself. Not just to catch a show like a movie, and then back to cubicle land.

But I grew up with the Detroit scene. An urban legend that lives up to it's status, so maybe I'm just a little spoiled, jaded, or a combination of both. FYI, it WAS a religious experience, just in case you're wondering! :P
