i actualy enjoy hearing scratching in setrs when its done properly, i hate it when a dj does it on everty track and over speeches and that though

Hey you lot, you need to chill out a bit with the slagging dj's off. there is alot more to djin than just playing records you know, fair enough the scratching was pretty poor on fri but that was due to a shit mixer and equiptment set up. we were asked to perform a scratch battle and thats what we did to the best of our abbility under terrible conditions. sorry if we upset anyone but i have to mention that we regulary get booked off the back of our scratching and there usually isnt any complaints.i personally like to see dj's trying something a bit different but i understand that done wrong it can sound BAD!!! so please blame the sound engineer/club and not us...........

I can back that up! The sound engineer couldn't even set the mic up on his own mixer. Not good...

I like to hear a bit of "good" scratching , it does tend to suit hardstyle slightly more than trance I reckon (out of the 2) :lol:

As with a lotta things in dj-in.......if done properly then yes.........I think it sounds awesome, can if done in the right way......can match most genre's.......... u see a dj properly ripping it up over hardtrance and it can send the crowd nuts......an awesome tool in a djs box.....


Problem is though that it can be sooooo inconsistent, like a few of the posts here mention......most mix crossfaders just don't cut sharp enough.
and it can sound veeeeeeery wank


I'd love a djm600 with a really sharp long lasting xfader......... if a version of that came out, i'd buy one tomorrow.....

I have to say yes! But like everyone else has said, in modderation! Im not being big headed, but i can scratch, beat juggle, and anything else you wanna throw at a pair of decks, and i dont over do it when mixing hard trance! Sometimes DJ's think that scratching poorly is better than not scratching at all, which is wrong imo. And the comment made about scrathing doesnt work with dance music is complete bolox! I can mix hardcore techno, and stick beat juggling and all sorts into it, and it comes out fine, since a lot of the music is hip hop orientated!

it can work with a hard style set for sure..

hard trance.. i'm not entirely convinced, but i've even heard a crazy melodic set with scratching.. sounded off at first but very well done.

guess anyone can pull it off if done right

As most have said, if the DJs good at it it works, it's nice over break beaty patterns in hard trance tunes, but as some have also said the DJs who cant scratch will say NO, Tho's who can will say yes
