Default Best soundcard for 64 bit Windows 7 machine?

I'm about to make the upgrade on my studio PC to Windows 7. Thinking of upgrading my old firewire MOTU 828 also. I'm kind of out of the loop as far as sound cards go, so does anyone have any suggestions as to the best options at present? USB or firewire I don't really care. I really need this to be the dogs bollocks.

    Hope someone can help!!!

this is the rack version of what i use:

    its the digidesign 003+

8 inputs, 8 preamps, 8 seperate outs, mains out, mon out etc. + fully digital and expandable thru adat.

+ it means you can dip into the sexy world of protools

also runs perfectly with logic, cubase etc.

bit steep as its nearly €1300 butt worth every penny.

im running with XP pro sp3 32bit but theres no problems with 64bit over at the protools forums. the new 64bit drivers seem solid enough so far.

ey mark, i was on the same problem week ago. i bough rme fireface 400 soundcard for both studio desktop and also laptop. I am now using it on WinXP SP3 32bit on my desktop and Win7 HomePremium64bit on my laptop and all works smoothly.

    8xAnalog I/O
    1x ADAT I/O or 1x SPDIF I/O optical
    1x SPDIF I/O coaxial
    2x midi I/O
    2x mic preamp (phantom)
    1x World clock I/O

    RME FIREFACE 400 - U.K. International Cyberstore

street price is around 750 Euros. i happily had a chance to have 30% off price :D
