I had a couple of mix CDs from a weird series out on React, DJ Freundschaft (?). Never really understood what that was all about, but the mixes were alright!

WestBam - DJF 125 - DJ Freundschaft (CD, Comp, Mixed) at Discogs

Takkyu Ishino - DJF 400 (CD, Mixed, Comp) at Discogs

Thinking about it, there was another good mix series a few years back. The Globus mix, out on Tresor, was pretty sharp. I had a few of them:

Rok - Globus Mix Vol. 3 - Sturm Und Drang (CD) at Discogs

Daniel Bell - Globus Mix Vol. 4 - The Button Down Mind Of Daniel Bell (CD, Mixed, Comp) at Discogs

Matthew Herbert - Globus Mix Vol. 5 - Letsallmakemistakes (CD, Comp, Mixed) at Discogs

Dave Tarrida - Globus Mix Vol. 6 - Dave Tarrida Plays Records (CD, Comp, Mixed) at Discogs

Quality stuff! There used to be some great mix series out; Globus, X-Mix, DJ Kicks, Essential Underground etc. Is there anything similar nowadays, just a series of mix cds, each one by a different DJ? I haven't realy seen anything like that for ages...

best techno mix album bar none:

    jeff mills liquid room....

    why?

it went sooooo left of centre.... it did something that no other techno mix album had ever done before it... it made mixing different but also the tracks.. - it worked... it was art in it's purest form..

since then - who has really done that? sure you can mention dave clarke - electro mix (woooahhh), richie hawtin decks and fx (alot of hype imho) and joris voorn - his 2nd mix on balance did something no other mix has done.... but think about it. are these really the same as liquid room???

i think not! (all mho of course hehe)
