alright, im trying to get that snapping sound that sounds like a really tight clap or a snare...

ignition technition uses it in almost every single one of their tracks

does anyone know what im talking about? how do you get that sound?

im not even sure if its a snare i just remember someone told me it was but it doesnt sound like a classic snare

try sampling a whip - or check out some good S+M sites. believe it or not, you get some really nice sounding snare hits from these type of sounds.
