VST to produce cutting effect

Hi guys, can anyone recomend a free plugin for producing a cutting effect on wavs/mp3s (as opposed to drawing in volume changes or whatever). I'm after the effect of the transform button found on some mixers, but want to cut the sound out as well as in (if you see what I mean!)

Just automate the mute button on the channel you are using.

yeah, in Cubase (if you have it), you can draw in where you want to mute, if you do it alot it gives that "cutting" effect.

the old cubase had a plug-in (can't remember the bloody name now! :( ) that u could place as an insert 2 do this ... i think i might b called transformer!! ?!

i'm still using the old version of cubase and it has a plug in called tranceformer 2 .............
dont know if u can use the old dll files in sx or not but its worth a try

yeah u can use the old plugins, its still vst format :) but automating gives a much better effect as u can do it rhythmically.

U can also use Midi Gate (if u look 4 it there was an old post about it and how 2 use it), a midi efx u can use 2 gate (chop) any sound u need, ... I think the old plug in was called chopper actually!

yeah, the Cubase plugin is called Chopper or Chopper2 for sx, just checked ;)
