i saw surgeon boxing day in liverpool and to this day its still the best set ive ever expirenced in my life.

i think the thing with him is he has alot of variety, which personally i think is great, you never hear the same set twice. others however mit not like it as its not consistent boom boom boom.

personally id say if you like techno you cant fail to like surgeon.but different strokes for different folks.

I was at the boxing night one mate, and it was class, but that was a good few years ago now (2006) and the last time I saw him @ Aztec in the Carling Academy he was weak. Really just uninteresting plodding along, no real progression during the set, no peaks or troughs, just the same monotone minimal loops over and over again... I heard that he played in M'chester later that night and banged it out in good old Surgeon style, which is exaclty what we had all gone along to see in Liverpool! He was on quite early in Aztec, so maybe he took it as a chance to road test some slower stuff, but it really had none of the Surgeon style or feel to it. It's not just that it wasn't as fast, it was dull. I can handle slower techno, and it doesn't have to be just boom boom, but it has to have a vibe and something to grab you. That set really didn't!

I'd LOVE to see him play like he did on boxing night (warping The Bells into Jingle bells?!) but that was a while ago now and I'm just not sure he plays that kind of Techno any more.

For anyone who wasn;t there that boxing night:
