    Default Upgrading an iMac

    is it possible to upgrade an iMac as in the ram, processor etc?

    for RAM, yes it's quite easy.

    not sure what model/year you have, but here's a tutorial for a 2008 imac

    YouTube - How to install ram in a iMac (4gb)

    replacing the hard drive is relatively simple too.

    for processor, i'm sure it's doable but i don't think i'd recommend you do that, especially considering the tightly calibrated fan and cooling system (danger of overheating if you stuck a faster processor in there). that's a disadvantage to getting a compact computer.

    cheers mate, well ive not got it yet but im looking to get the new iMac's. Its just money the now and if i can get a smaller spec and then look to upgrade in the future then thats what im going to do

    so depending on the processor that i get then theres most likely going to be a bigger fan/cooling system?

    maybe go for the i7 processor and look to add the ram and hard drive at a later date then!
