If your using 10.0 there is an auto backup option.
files save in backup folder in browser. There is an option in settings to change how frequent the files back up!

    I use ctrl + s frequently.

Best thing to use is "save as new version"

Not only does this give you an un-corrupt file to go back to, but also the option to go back through the history of your track if you **** stuff up and want something you did a while ago.

Also zipping a project early on allows you to work from one folder with all samples kept in this folder if later down the road you may have deleted some samples from (slices, recorded, unwanted sample packs etc.)

I back everything to an external HD too!
