Blackout Audio is proud to present its brand new sub-division ‘Blackout Audio Remastered’, which will be re-releasing all the former classic Blackout Audio vinyl releases as exclusive re-masters for today’s digital world. It’s hardly surprising that the first in this series is the classic ‘Compressed EP’ that kick started the label over ten years ago, subsequently giving birth to one of the biggest techno anthems of all time. Featuring on the playlists of Dave Clarke to Sven Vath and everyone with an ounce of interest in techno music, this EP went down in the history books as a momentous release that was to characterize the distinctive and driving machine-like sound of the label for the years that followed.

Established duo Mark EG and Chrissi both deliver classic original mixes of Deranged and Compressed but it is of course Chris McCormack that pulls the trump card here with his unmistakable, clank-ridden remix of ‘Compressed’. This incredible work of art, with twists and turns at every available juncture is simply mesmerizing. Sounds fly in from above, beyond and then some – the tension here is unlike anything you hear in techno music these days.

Although he scored huge successes at the time with his remix of Space DJz ‘AK-47’, UK Gold and his own Embryo label, Chris now runs the infamous Blacklisted Mastering service, which lends skills to established acts and artists such as Soma, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Black Dog and even Gary Numan - to name but a few.

Thanks guys. Yes this is a big release for us, because it marked not only our first ever boa release all those years ago, but also as it marks our new digital strategy. Our schedule is now a release approx every two weeks, whether that be something remastered or a brand new project. It's a very exciting time for us!
