Go Menu Devices/ device setup...

Choose Defalt Midi port... in here choose the midi input and output that will by defalt be used on any midi track u create (of course u can then change 2 suite yer needs at any time, by getting back here or changing directly in the track itself).

Now go on Direct Music and u can even change the name of the midi port Show/ hide midi ports or even activate/ make inactive any ports that u might have....

I have configured them for the name of the instruments connected 2 them.. lots easier, having viruc, microkorg, pulse, etc... then USB MIDI Out 1, etc...
