This Thursday is the date of Electric City's First Birthday party. It's a
year [almost] to the day since we kicked off on Thursdays at the
Metropolitan and the time has shot in. To celebrate our years residence
we've gone for a heavyweight line-up in the shape of a live set from
Dutchman Speedy J [Novamute] and a DJ set from BPitch Control label-owner
Ellen Allien who's flying in from Berlin. Opening up the proceedings after a
bus journey in on the 16A will be electricity resident Simon Conway.

Ellen Allien is the owner of Berlin label BPitch Control, one of the leading
electronic labels in the world today. As well as running this label she is
also one of it's most respected producers with a string of 12"'s, remixes
and albums under her belt. Ellen is one of the most popular and best DJs in
Europe and she is frequently to be heard at events such as Sonar,
Ultraschall, Haywire and Love Parade playing a killer mix of distorted
electro and mixed-up techno. This will be Ms. Alliens first time to land in
Dublin and she's ready to help us celebrate our birthday in style.

Speedy J's live set is known to be perhaps the ultimate live techno show in
the world today. His track record as a producer stretches back over ten
years on labels such as Warp, Plus 8, Music Man, Planet Mu, Eevolute, R&S,
Fax all the way to his current home on Novamute. Previous appearances in
Dublin at the Funnel and TBMC have become legendary and this live show is

Resident Simon Conway looks forward to his return trip down DJing memory
lane as he supported Speedy J on his first ever Irish appearance in The
Funnel many moons ago. He'll be playing some electro, Chicago, Italo and
whatever else comes to mind.

To make this an extra-special night to remember both of our guests are going
to be playing 2 hour sets. For this reason, and to make sure everyone gets
in to the venue in time to check out both of these killer guests, we are
opening up the Metropolitan an hour earlier at 10pm. There will be some
lovely FREE! Tiger Beer for the first 50 people through the doors.
