    Just watched the vid..
    it's nothing like green velvet..
    that's a lazy comparison
just because they're both black and from Chicago?
    WTF?
this is very much a german thing, and watching that video makes me nostalgic of great parties in germany....

Vid makes me want to move to Berlin, and I wouldn't say it's a lazy comparison because of the fact that they are or were friends and worked together way before the weird look stuff, my assessment is they came up with the concept together Rush has foam and Velvet has those tube looking chinese handcuff things.

I read an Overload interview ( I think) where Rush said that was just the way he and his mates dressed and stuff. It just so happens Green Velvet was famous before Rush was so everyone thinks Rush has copied him..

i never really understood why green velvet got so popular...i personally never liked his stuff, but that doesnt matter...its not that charty-sounding, so i never quite figured why. guess because of lala land remixes mostly?

well i mean really popular...like when you could start finding green velvet cd's at people who normally only listened to the average shite .and i still cant understand why, cause he only played here once i think. may be wrong

No, he was producing and DJing for longer perhaps. There is no doubt that Green Velvet rose to heights of fame (I'm talking worldwise here) before Rush. In fact if it wasn't for the hairdo and what not people could have laughed Rush out of the place, a lot of his early stuff was terrible although he did do the odd good thing I guess..

I think what set Rush apart from the bunch was his marching like stacatto in his trax way before the sponge antennas came in the play

True. I'm not a big Green Velvet fan, and I have *loads* of Rush records, but I generally considered Green Velvet to be the finished article in comparison to Rush from a production point of view...
