    Default Scot project

Bummer, scott project is an exellent Dj & producer, its a shame he hasn't stuck to his underground roots but fair play to the man I know I wouldn't turn down a set on radio 1 ( Yeah like thats gonna happen ! ). Ive heard him at slinky before & he rocked, even for slinky. At least he was playing proper hard trance. What was he playing on radio 1 ??

I do not know what Scot Projects intentions are... but I can't blame him for doing it. The underground community is the only people that loose out in the here and now.

    Default I agree

The underground people are definatley the only one's losin out and everyone would jump at the chance of gettin the music you produce so world wide spread but just hate too see a quality dj go down this path

The path he's chose will never work - when he started playing places like Godskitchen and Gatecrasher, it affected his productions because he has become removed from the underground and is only encouraged to go lighter all the time. Look at how his productions have gradually got lighter and lighter over the past year, from the sheer brilliance of ding-a-ling to the airy fairy City to City.

I gave up on him when he was last on Warmduscher's show and played an all trance set. If you read the comments people make about him on the GK and GC boards, you can see that they just don't really appreciate hard trance. They like it at first as a novelty, then after a few weeks rip it to death. Scot is not a good enough technical dj to be appreciated as a trance dj, so eventually that crowd are going to reject him.

i think the poor guy got roped in by the commercial UK scene, without knowing about the underground first. that's the problem with ppl from abroad - they think what they read about in the press is what the whole scene is about. how wrong could they be.

He did play some underground places before he went big, I remember seeing him one night at The Candy Store in Plymouth, in October 2001. He seemed really taken aback that he was popular with the crowd there and the set he played was really good, great dark tunes, and he wasn't too bad technically.

When he next played there in 2002 (I forget the date) after playing some more high profile places, his attitude had really changed as well as his music had - his main concern was the size of the place and how many people were there. The set he played then was far removed from the standard he had reached the first time.

It is a shame, 'cause he is a really nice guy, I mean no insult to him through this - but I really do think he could have stayed underground had he wanted to. Look at what happened with the Uberdruck guys...

yeah it was a shame some of his past tunes were superb, but i theres enought talented producers out there making wicked tunes so sod him. If he really cared about the underground scene i dont he would have got himself in this situation.

Yeah, i agree with what everyones saying.
I'm really gutted because i really like Scot Project's work and influence he has had in German Trance. The guy is a legend. If you read his Bio' he says he likes to use a mixture of Dark Sounds/ Hard melodic elements accompanied with very Hard Kicks and Fat Basslines. Now we all know what this mans Kick drums sound like, and is abilty to fit virtually any Kick Drum with the Bass Line so it sounds perfect!!
Personally, i'm a big fan of his Acid-Tinged monster the "Future Is Now."
Hard, dark and catchyas hell to sum it up. Then he produced "Overdrive" which was quality, in particular, the Hard Beats and Bassline used.
Then he's got his amazing remixes under his belt, with some of his best work, - "Thunder In Paradise & Second Trip" etc etc etc
But then he seemed to be going more Uplifting and Melodic in each tune, somewhat commercial.
'Ding A Ling' was a good tune but very Uplifting, which to me isn't his true style. This got me thinking. His true style is defintley "Future Is Now"
Theres no question about it. Anyway then he did "Hands Up" Which was even lighter and more commercial Trance sounding than ever. In the meantime he was playing out @ Gatecrasher and Godskitchen.
Sound Of Overdose - still not the mans best work and still not "HIS" sound.
And now his newest tune to date, still good but average sounding to a lot of the new stuff what is out.
Each time he has gone lighter, hence the fact 'going down the commercail road.'
Not producing what he wants to hear, not what he is best at producing, not producing what we all expect of him, BUT producing commercial sounding Hard Trance, in obviously, what he thinks is his future.
Before you could tell a typical Scot tune, now you can't.
"Thats Scot i would say to myself, you can tell with his beats and Kicks!
Now you cant really say that.
It was after Overdrive when he went down hill in my opinion. Its just been a graduale process.
And now hes playing @ radio 1, who would have thought it?? The dark and twisted/underground sound now transfered into basically average sounding commecial Hard Trance. What a Joke.
He'd probably like to still call it Hard Trance, but its not "SCOT PROJECT" Hard Trance is it!!!!
