Does anyone know what the best effects unit for dj use is???

yeah m8 but if u are djing any latency can b very disturbing if u know what I mean!! and there is no absolutly real time PC/ Soundcard/ software.

Thanx alot for the info everyone, so what do you think is better between the efx and the korg kaoss 2?

and also is there any programs that allow u to do stuff to real time sound through a pc?

definately the kaoss pad 2 out of those 2, hands down.

mmm good point.. but if latency is that bad how do bands use v-stack then? id imaging they'd want somthing to happen pretty much instantly when they hit a midi footswitch or somthing...

i was hoping to use some vst's for my live set - do you think ill have probs then dude?

Most programs now days have latency compensation built in so it adjusts itself against the midi clock. However, if your in a totally live situation without a midi clock... that’s a different story.

Djing is a all different thang... Imagine that when u had a filter the beat woul b slightly off...

PDC is generally achieved by a small wait b4 the start, in fact its more 2 do with a situation when u have some audio then u had some process, now the program calculates the lag these will add and compensates by either using a buffer 2 do all the pre-calculations (which is not the same as a live feed, I mean and audio track is already there so all it needs is some computing all ready 2 b fired appon a press on the play) or delaying all the other signals 4 the same amount...

Can really imagine how else u can bens time in order 2 have the results of audio computing even b4 the audio is there if u know what I mean...

U could say that we could get along fine with something as small as 7-9 ms, but still I think that in order 2 have it working nice u'd need a very spec'ed up pc/ Mac.


But I could b talking rubish I guess, I'll b glad 2 hear yer thoughs on this 1! :)
