Ye i totaly know what you mean but , that was the idea hence the title "Very Hard trance"I suppose iv just tryed to get the best of both world's coz i luv proper hard kiks but at the same time i luv big epic riff's if you know what i mean ? Something you can get your teath into,so to speak.
My intent was to miss lead you,the first 1.44 is hard as fk then the riff just takes over man!this may sound stupid but good riffs give me goose pimpals dude i fill up inside i feel like i wana cry.
Anyway thanks for taken the time to reply mate.

Lately iv bin practicing on my key bord i realy want to be able to play it well,My mum is a Dr of music she did 7 years at the royal academy of music she was a professional opera singer before she had kids and she's the bolock's on a grand piano and she's bin showing me some basic stuff and its starting to pay off now.

When i wrote thies tracks i wanted them to be a more like a piece of music rather than just a tune if you know what i mean ?

good stuff man, my keyboard is definetly a very important part of my set up, ive found when i remove it im slowed down quite a lot plus i can start a track in a certain mood and it allows me to just play sections straight away into my sequencer without having to think about it.

first track: dont like the EQ of the kick drum, sounds too muffled, then the farty bass line jsut doesnt sit with it, put some top end back in the kick and a little bite from some distortion and it would sit much better. also after the melody break, it soudns weak when the kick comes back in, turn down the melody during the break, infact a good tip is to slowly turn down the whooe track during the break, then back up as it kicks back in to give it more impact ;) good structure but im still waiting for the main riff?? your main riff sounds liek an intro riff that should build up to a main riff if you know what i mean..

2nd track: wicked speech sample at the start :) this soudns more like it....nice little fills and drops as it builds up, wicked little digeredoo type riff like that alot :) liek this loads more, would probably buy this on vinyl...good work man :)

Ye some good points thier, the thing is non of the tracks have bin masterd just e.q'd and the mix dose need more work.
The kik just had to much bass in it and its not compressed as i dont know how to do it.Im going to a mates hows next week and hes gon show me how to use compressors and just generaly how to master tracks so ill get back to you when iv had a chance to put some of what i lern to use.

the first tracks not too bad... not too keen on the bassline, it hasnt got enough definition, maybe try using a different patch on the same patterm... and the melody isnt as strong as it kinda needs to be given the nature of the track. Also im not too keen on all the dry acid samples out of Techno Trance Essentials... this may be coz ive heard them all a hundred times tho. but never the less its a damn good attempt mate! fair play :)

Although the second track is less up my street generally im liking it loads more than the first. All the sounds are working together nicely and complementing each other, and the bottom end is gelled together nicely. Maybe a touch bass heavy... but they still sit v.nicely together... The only thing im not too keen on is the breakdown, and then after that... just coz i think its a touch boring using the same riff as in the intro for the main boot... perhaps you could get some sorta A.s.y.s. acid riff to fit in nicely? or something a touch different... the best bit for me is that telephone ringing! it just works so well!!!!!

id agree with baptismo about the bassline on the first, i dont think i could even hear it after the break. I like the way youve gone hard but floaty, my sort of trance defo. the riff in this tunes real nice. The only other thing i would say has been said already about when it kicks back in sounding abit weak.

cant listen to the second as im getting kicked out of the comp room at college

i listened to this on the ukscene boards and then again now and my only comment is that they aint really that hard.
for starters that second tune, youve remixed an industrial strength trance track that is kinda classic so you're not gonna come close to it i don't think - pehaps better off working on your own tunes more?

Personally, i really like your kick and bass on both tracks. This is the style i am really into. Kick and Bass on the 1st tracks sounds alot like - c4 "Bla Bla Bla." Both tunes are a very good effort mate, i actually like the way you have included soft melodies with a hard kick as there are not enough tunes out there like this. Melodies were very catchy with that driving, pounding Bass.

Nice one mate, keep up the good work

i know what youre saying there mate but dot get into the habit of thinking you can "fix it at the mastering stage", mastering essentially draws all the elements together to give a final sheen to the track to make it "whole"..however if somethign isnt workign at the mixdown stage then its still gonna be there, maybe even accentuated in the mastering process...good luck learning about compressers and all that :)

3rd this , love the melody though , note work is ace , maybe a different synth though , although ist is a Whooah wunt expecting that ,
beat n bass , hmmm tricky one , teetering on the edge of hardstyle not hard trance , beef up teh percs & hats etc,, to i reckon , , but as its playing now , im tapping me foot , the melody is keeping me hooked , defo good with melodys !

    track 2 listening now

again same comments as first track , beat n bass are very different to the main melody , but works well , strange , nice structure again , few tweeks here and there , but its wioerd how i cant put my finger on what style it is , cool

p.s : whats with the phone sample , hehehehee

    sounds mint

    well done chappie

Well fk me! Iv not been on hear for a while wasn expecting all this,Thank's very much it's all noted.
I can see thier's some very mixed opinion's hear,to be honest im not realy interested wot people thiink of the style coz the tracks's are just as i wanted them to be,I love realy hard kik's but i allso love big epic trancey mellody's so by bringing them together like this i get the best of both world's.In a way i like to think of them as "My Style" I know thier not as thier are some tunse out thier of a very simalar style but not many.
The feed back im realy interested in is what people think of the overall production, quality and how it can be improved not changed, but that isnt to say people view's on the track's arnt valued, all feed back is wellcome and appreciated.
Stride you said i should stick to maken my own stuff and not remixing other's,In one way your right but look at it this way,wev all got record's that we like but at the back of your mind you think"if only i could change this bit or do that to it" do you see what im geting at?Its about puting my money wher my mouth is and seeing how i can improve or tranzlate other peoples's work to what i want,in this case i turned a hardcore track into a hardtrance track and for me it worked briliantly, but that's just my opinion.
A couple of people have mentioned the "Ringer" Ha ha ha thats's one of my favouret part's,the ringer and all vocal sample's came from"The Ring" im sure you all know this film.
Anyway thanks for all your comment's and watch out for my next post.
