I think the problem (if you can call it that) is that a lot of people that frequent messageboards, and to a certain extent techno parties, are quite young. A vast majority of opinions are based on experiences over the last 4 years or so. Whilst there is no obvious problem with this, it does suggest to me that (and in view of the way Mills has developed as a DJ) many of Jeffs current listeners are just that. Current Listeners. Without wanting to sound "all back in the day", I must say that if you didn't hear Mills then, you will never be able to fully appreciate the man today.
For me, attending clubs like Lost, and Club UK, was such a huge turning point in my life, and I hold Jeff responsible for about 85% of the way I have developed as a person/DJ/Promoter/fan.

Jeff was, and still is, TRULY INSPIRATIONAL. Tricks like turning a record at 45 degrees on the turntable, and having the needle follow the groove til the needle could go no higher that it had to drop back down into the same groove were just petrifying/exhilarating. Without a SHADOW of a doubt, I wouldn't be the DJ I am today if it wasn't for Mills. He's influenced me like no other and I am utterly convinced that no one will ever exceed this level of influence.

Now, Jeff is ultra tight, the funk is in absolute abundance (perhaps more than ever before) and he can take the roof off like no other, when he wants to.
To me, each individual DJ set from Mills is a continuation from the last.
Mills is a journeyman, a pioneer, a legend.
