Having a narrow vision of what's musically acceptable has no place being linked with Techno.

Yep, thats what i was trying to say in my rambling lofty buddy hollyesque above post
Not to say that people have to like dubstep (or buddy holly)... It can be pretty generic and predictable as can any 'genre', but i've heard tracks that have knocked me for six and its influenced some producers of aforementioned 'techno' which is where it gets exciting as its another route to explore.. new territory, ideas and production techniques to be applied to other stuff. Seriously. If there is one person on here you should ignore when they comment on music, its Aratron.

    quoted for truth

i dunno though , i can only say what my opinion is from my own perspective.
dub-step just seems like something for the new heroin generation.
although i know a lot of people who passionate about music like the genre. all i am saying is that i dont.

i have really tried. I have heard some amazing dubstep tunes, as great as some of it is, it just doesn't press the right buttons with me.

And it does seem a tad pretentious too.
    and very samey.

anyway, i just wanted to pop on here and let people know that there is pure gold in the dubstep scene, but it takes paying attention, as with any genre. every genre has its formulas, but no genre should ever truly be defined by them.
    DJ Shiva just nailed it.

Im on a discovery mission at the moment as i used to be one of the most musically narrow minded people i knew. Im trying to break out of that as it is just not cool. Dubstep has got my attention at the moment and starting this thread was the best move I've made in a while, because the links to mixes and information you guys have given me is amazing!

Thanks to all! Keep it coming, but please- don't let this thread turn into a squabble. Please!

Mala has made some great tunes... has a really organic sound. I like this one a lot:

Also, Skream's essential mix from last year was brilliant... still waiting for some of the tunes to get released. those kids do love their dubplates...

I'm pretty sure it was a digital release on Trouble & Bass records:

Check Juno Download... it should still be there. You're getting your limes and lemons mixed up!

There are some tracks that I have heard so far on my 3 day dubstep adventure that sound a bit well, for lack of a better word... plastic. A little churned out. But you get that with every genre really. There are aspects of techno that sound a bit plastic too. You know when you hear a DJ caning a "filler" track. Timo Maas has a habit of doing it.
