    Default Sound card recommendations?

I just got a new desktop and bought the generic soundcard that came with, assuming I would need to purchase a much better one down the road. Can anybody give me some recs, including top of the line as well as a solid model with a reasonable price?

    Thanks.

M Audio Delta 1010, or the 1010LT. Rock solid, great sound, no noise, low latency and reasonably priced.

Depends what you want in terms of IO

Although M-audio 1010 will probably cover everything you will ever need, I'd also look at MOTU ultralite.

Thanks, guys. I'll give them both a look. I'm still very much on the amateurish end of things, but I'm not looking to stay there forever, and I don't want to buy four different audio cards over the next two years. I'd rather drop a decent chunk of change and get a quality one.

    Appreciate the advice.

check out the m-audio fast-track pro or ultra. great quality and a fairly good price with a few I/O's to boot.

take soemthing with solid converters, then choose as many I/O as you need,. Motu828MK3 looks the business if you need lot of in/outs. I cant say bad on E-MU soundcards, much better A/D, and D/A converters than the others in same price range + a few Ins/Outs.
