Default Anyone running MOTU on the XP platform?

Just curious if anyone’s running a MOTU 828 (or any other MOTU) on windows XP, one of my friends has been having lots of problems with his. It tends to crash his pc out a lot. The reason I ask is I was tempted on buying a laptop and running Motu but if it means I have to use a mac to keep things stable I will have to reconsider.

yeah i run a motu 828 on windows XP and it has probably crashed maybe once in a year

and i use it at least 4-5 hours a day solid

BUT dont get a dell laptop to use with the 828 - it aint compatible (i made the mistake) dell have some ****ed up driver in ther that shafts the audio playback and neither motu nor dell could fix it!!! (there is a warning somewhere on the motu website i think)

theres an article on soundcards in FM this month & in the review of the Motu 828 it says maybe one of the best... for Macs.

is the whole sound card issue always so much trouble ? there seem to quite a few threads about this subject.

i love my hardware. i turn it, i press a button, it goes bang

    Sounds like heaven!

Soundcards only play up if you get one that doesnt agree with cpu main board. If you get the right combination everything should be fine.

Do you have a hardware sequencer too?

Actually the more hardware the better imo. It always seems to sound better than yer software, I would love to own a half decent sampler thats easy to use. One that you could somehow link up to the pc and send recieve samples to it via drag and drop. I have an old akai s1000, it sounds wickid (althought very noisey). To sample onto it takes some doing too as messa doesnt work with s1000's. That sucks imo
