    Default Acid line how to?

Obviously I realise that a good acid line is one of the true sacred arts of dance music, but is there anything on the net (or in print) which explains the basics?

Currently using the Claw VST, also have copy of rebirth but its a pain to use - are there any other decent 303 clones I should be looking at?

I bought a x0xb0x, it's well sexy. Never been able to get on with software. Do yourself a favour and get some knobs to twiddle.

i'd agree with xes. I have a TB and x0x + the above software clones, the tb and x0x both cut through the mix and sit lovely without really doing anything to them. I struggle a lot to get the software clones (although sounding great on their own) to sit in the mix properly. But if you don't want to spend as much cash as that then either of the software versions will do the job to a degree, much more so than what you are currently using.

The Audio Realism plug is the only one I've ever been able to get sounding similar (and I do only mean similar lol) but you need a nice overdrive and you really must mess with the freqs to get it to sit. That clipstar plugin is quite good....

Software is the best tool when you're composing the line. When it comes to recording the line, then you need some kind of HW to do it, otherwise it will sound too thin and cold. Personally i like Audiorealism + TB-303 combination, but what i've heard, x0xb0x seems to yield some decent sounds if you can't get your hands on an actual 303.

sylenth + d16 distortions will do the trick. Most important is to set up a nice groove and find the sweetspots in the synth and distortion.
