dual channel memory problem

just bot 2gb ram (2*1gb) which should run in dual channel.
motherboard takes 1gb in each slot and supports dual.
memory sticks seem to be fine coz they work separetly ok.
problem comes when i put them workin together.
tried all possible configurations.
is there something iv missed?
...something to do with bios?
please help!

thats was i was doing.checked all possible configurations and pc doesnt even turn on, just shows up the problem by beeps.
just put an old unit of memory with one of these i bot and it works in dual.bizzare :)

sounds like you got a bad memory stick. return it.

no hassle matey! if its the same place you got it from again, steer clear, they may have a dodgy batch.

hold your horses, have you tried each module on its own one at a time to establish if it is faulty? obviously you'll need to do this to find out which stick isn't working properly.

also make sure you're fitting it into the correct slots on your board, as most will only accept dual channel memory in certain slots, it will tell you which in your motherboards manual

yeah tried every possible configuration.
each module works on its own however.
problem comes when installed together.

doubt its the memory that's at fault then, have you tried resetting the bios?

i havnt no, how do i do it?

usually you have to switch a jumper or switch over on the board whilst your pc isn't switched on, your motherboard manual will tell you what to do and where the switch/jumper is

It could still, very easilly, be a bad chip. A bad chip run by itself may not cause the same issues as a bad chip run in tandem with a good one. Go to this site and download memtest86.

Snag the ISO image one to make a bootable CD if you can. Run the tests on each chip in the machine one at a time, not in tandem. If one reports errors, there's your issue.
