yes
why? isnt this thread merly making new boundries for what is and what isnt something?
exactly, do what you want to do, when you want to do it, and just hope some other people enjoy it as much as you
He was asking a perfectly legitimate question dude.
But then again thats the sort of answer we've come to expect from you. isnt it.
if you dont wanna contribute positivly - piss off somewhere else.
And you can land one in my face for that, because ill get up and say it again.
And you know, thats what i've come to expect from the london crowd (no offence to the innocent eh...) elitist, retentive and un-helpful.
On the other hand i take your point about boundaries.
Difference is "I" dont have any.
:censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:
personally speaking it doesn't look like rowland is coming across as argumentative, he's just stating a different view point, if every thread is just full of people agreeing, this place would become really boring and non productive
shall i tell you what dan...
It wasnt that he was being argumentative, its just he comes across this is a thread he cares little about i.e this is SUCH a boring internet topic and so old hat...
Well it ISNT ....its a production question and a good one at that. Tempo is a fundamental question and those who are interested in the nitty gritty are only to be applauded.
[ANNOYED]
SO why is it that rowland the bastard needs to chip in with a negative? Cmon man, fess up? why be like that? What does it achieve? Do you think people are going to steal your secrets or is it that you havnt actually thought deeply enough into it to even CARE about the little things such as TEMPO? Do you run at the same boring tempo everytime or have you been interested enough to try and work it out?[ /ANNOYED]
You say it isnt thinking oustide boundaries? but no offence to the others, but everyones tempo seems to be in the same range.. apart from the 70BPM one... thinking oustide boundaries IS about asking questions...
Sure trying to find out what tempo people here write their music at smacks of copying or emulating, but thats a step on the road to production in any genre... most of all techno.
Im sorry about some of my comments, TBH i DIDNT mean them personally, but then i dont KNOW you at all and its easy to pass verbal wind [quote chris here later..] but harder to know the person. im attacking your comments but not you. Like i said, i'll still take one in the face for a laugh, and get up and say the same things.
/rant
haven't you guys got spilt milk to cry over?
I'm pretty sure this thread was started as a joke so why's everyone taking a little thing like the pitch control to heart like an infidel calling names at Allah?
NB the best speed for techno is at 138.52983 reoccurring and played backwards
It is a boring internet topic though. some people like it fast, some like it slow. It's up to the DJ and producers to play / make the techno they like at the speed they like and if others take a shine to it then so be it.
next you'll be asking what key people prefer their percussion in or whats the optimum number of high hats per bar ;)
i'm not replying to the question though, i'm commenting on the relevence of the subject matter.
heres a question for you: why are you being so argumentative? we're all brothers of techno here
(excuse the spelling. i dont have a spellchecker on my pocket pc)
same goes for rowland the 150bpm all my life bastard.
125 bpm.
170 bpm
I think this is an interesting thread, not least for the fact that it's got some people quite hot under the collar.
Personally I like lots of different types of bpms, I think anyone who has settled on one exact bpm from which they'll never change, needs to ask themself some questions.
was i talking to you? No! So chill out
of course the subject matter is going to be stupid, that's why it's a pisstake thread. i know this, you know i know this - so why get shirty with me?
i hope this is the end of the matter because there's nothing more pointless than arguing with someone that agrees with you *rolleyes*
It was a PRODUCTION question (thats my belief anyway) and such deserved a decent answer. Mostly thats what it got...
And as for we are all brothers of techno quip - in your dreams mate. We are NOT all brothers of techno and this is what gets my goat. People pretend to be yet are not, the attitude stinks. And YES my attitude DOES stink TOO. im man anough to admit that and man enough to qualify my comments.
After speaking to a close friend last night i realise i may have misjudged rowland personally and for that i sincerely apologise, i also apologise for effectively hijacking a thread with my rants. Sorry.
I stand by what i said about the response from rowland though, not the personal comments - but the negativity that smells. And why not take the thread seriously? It was a serious thread asked by someone who wanted to know.
If anyone wants my advice (i suspect you dont  ) i can be contacted via PMs, i've already done enough damage here and wont be taking part much in BOA activities generally in the near future.. and no i dont want people to say "Dont leave" it isnt one of 'those' pathetic threads begging for attention, i genuinley have commitments elsewhere that are sapping my time...
Have a nice day.
PS - TFI friday... :briggin:
@Sunil's comment about being stuck to a tempo
That doesnt include me mate - i gave my answers because someone asked, those are calculations i wrote C++ programs to achieve and work for the key's stated, mostly i dont use them because of sequencer issues but occasionally i do.
The figures i quoted and keys mean that the bass waves in those keys sit exactly on the quantise grid and the compression/refraction waves pump in time to the music thereby increasing the efficeincy of the waveform.
MOstly, like you said.. its whatever works.
I really don't get you're point here. You trying to say that some of us listen to techno, DJ and/or produce techno, go to techno clubs and chat on techno forums yet do not like techno?
Or that you get so overly absorbed in your self need to be anal about the niche of techno you preach, that you've forgotten how to enjoy the music, the people and the scene?
Jaysus, did everyone simultaneously quit smoking or something?
Everybody taken up meth? Hopped up on 'roids? (Ste-, not haemor-)
Grown men ready to kick off over.... tempo.
It's obviously a very sensitive subject. Like women’s periods and intelligent design.
I WASNT kicking off over tempo i was kicking off over attitudes... and negative comments.
Presumptions are the mother of all f*ck ups. ;-) I suggest next time you make your point clearer rather than resorting to childish retorts (something you have whinged about in this thread yet seem to be guilty of more so than most.)
I admit i don't always understand peoples point's 1st time. I try to but i have a problem following text (being dyslexic and all). Plus you've got people on here who English isn't their 1st language so they maybe slower to pick up on your points as well.
If this happens then take a deep breath and reiterate your point.
It maybe a chore, but it results in less heated posts about the state of peoples attitudes and ultimately less stress for yourself when people respond negatively to your bitching ;-)
Anyhow, It's Friday and i get to spend the whole weekend with my gorgeous girlfriend (long distance relationship) so i don't intend to let a silly thread like this get me down :D
Bloomin eck, lets sum this post up.
It was started as a joke, some people carried on the joke, some people responded in a serious manner, both types of responses have been great, and this thread has been one of the few around here that's got people replying.
For the people that produce, forums like this are great for expanding our knowledge in the science of music production, and even a thread that was started as a joke can turn provide usefull info.
so lets stop the arguments before it gets too personal, as it's no use to any of us.
As for the brotherhood comment, i understood where dodgyedgy was coming from, but it's easy to pick up the wrong end of the stick.
@Mangafish - i take your comments man - you are right it was a pretty childish thing of me to say and im sorry, you are right on that and im wrong.
@Sunil - safe mate, no worries. my bad.
If its any explanation im trying to stop smoking and today has been a really stressful day.
god your all a bunch of pricks ;)

How do I sign up Mark?
